Re: DIY kit assembly

Typical fit issues, resolved with a brutalist approach.

It works though - here's the whole setup:

Left to do: spray paint all the bright steel bolts and raw wood exposed by chisel in order to get rid of a couple of annoying reflections.

Re: DIY kit assembly

aeturnus would you (if you haven't already) post a pic of the finish issues you had? I'm working on reprogramming all the artwork today and want to solve any problems like that cleanly. I wouldn't mind, but there's not much to see since I've already chiselled the joints down - what exactly would be...

Re: DIY kit assembly

I put my scanner together to the exact same point yesterday. I'm wondering if you've figured out what sort of screw to use for your cameras? Is it a bolt/screw available from home depot or is the threading different such that we have to order online or something? Your build looks very very nice. The...

Re: Monson's Servo Auto Scanner

Looks like a solid and well thought-out improvement. I don't know if I'm sold on an 80/20 or makerslide approach. I'm not sure the parts on offer are the right solution, and cost is a factor. I guess I'm just not sure how it would be an improvement over jck57's current approach. If we can build it o...

Looking forward to seeing what you cook up next!

Re: Monson's Servo Auto Scanner

While I'm at it, how did you cut the steel? A jigsaw or angle grinder or something else?

Re: Monson's Servo Auto Scanner

Nice, looks much more stable! I just have so many questions about this machine, but I'll limit myself to one. What stores do you buy your parts from? Particularly curious about a good source for slotted flat bar and other components of the presser arms, and that sweet adjustable box for the feed ro...

Re: Monson's Servo Auto Scanner

Since this system is arduino-based it might make sense to integrate camera control via arduino, removing two servos: http://www.circuitsathome.com/camera-control/digital-camera-control-using-arduino-usb-host-shield-part-1-basics Wouldn't work for all cameras, but if and when I have time to build one...

Re: Monson's Servo Auto Scanner

Wow, those changes really make it look unstoppable.

What is involved in making one of these? I'd love to see a build walkthrough / parts list!
