This is meant as a hello thread to introduce myself.
I've had a quiet interested in book scanning for many years, but never really did anything to realize it for myself. To my joy, less than a week ago, I stumbled upon this wonderful site. Thank-you so much BTW to the founder and all those that have made this site what it is today. What an incredible resource it is.
In the time since finding this site, I've been reading in all my spare time. I've done plenty of construction and design project in my time, so building something like this isn't beyond my capabilities. I think the catalyst that pushed me into making a commitment to myself to build one was finding this site, and having access to a great variety of people interested in the same goal. That having been said, I've already ordered my parts kit from Rob so that I can begin construction of that wonderful DIY Bookscanner I've been ogling this past week as soon as they arrive. What a terrific looking design.
To date, I managed to pick up a couple Canon A590is cameras that haven't seem more than a handful of shots taken with them out of the local buy & sell as I gear up for my build. One cost me $60, and the other cost me paltry $10. Amazing what you can find. I have been working out some ideas of my own for incorporating an automatic page turner into the design that I'm looking forward to pursuing.
I would like to share the build with the community in the appropriate forum when I get that far if there is any interest in seeing yet another one go together. If successful with my page turner, I'd of course like to share my success... If it's a failure, you probably don't want to hear about it!
Anyway, that's pretty much all about my bookscanning interest at the moment. Back to reading some threads and absorbing all this great information.
