We had a great meeting, IMHO!

Mellow-yellow updated us on his non-profit's project and some mods to his New Standard, Chrisr brought the beginnings of his scanner (which I think will be OUTSTANDING!), and I showed some pics of my overthought and yet still uncompleted build.

We also had a great talk about copyright, fair use and related issues.

Jujumana was missed, but was represented in spirit. his build and the use thereof are brilliant and inspiring!

A great meeting! Any other locals, please join us next time, we'll try to get the word out earlier!

When I Google "Portland DIY Book Scanner," this page appears, so I'm updating it to announce that the Portland DIY Book Scanner group is meeting again tonight, September 7, 2011 at Lucky Lab Brewery (915 SE Hawthorne). This time waffle, a new DIY'er in Portland, is joining us, increasing our number by one. Below is the announcement I sent to the members on this group:

"Perfect! Guys, please mark your calendars for next Wednesday, September 7th at 7PM at Lucky Lab on Hawthorne (915 SE Hawthorne). Waffle, yes, feel free to post it with Calagator [eventually posted as http://calagator.org/events/1250461256] too."

Again, the first round of drinks is on me (tell the bartender to put your drink on Sean's tab -- offer good for DIY members only)

The offer of free beer is still good, by the way, for anyone reading this message at www.diybookscanner.org.
