scan2docx

Built a scanner? Started to build a scanner? Record your progress here. Doesn't need to be a whole scanner - triggers and other parts are fine. Commercial scanners are fine too.

Looks interesting...have you requested a quote?

I figure anything requiring a quote is going to be expensive, and yet there's not much to this system beyond a glorified webcam.

its about 500 euro + shipping, but they offer a testing period, when you can return it (minus shipping/handling probably)

what you mean by glorified webcam?

their camera looks interesting and when I was trying to build my own system, I was looking into cameras like that

I need to know more about cameras like that

By the looks of it the optics would be of a inferior quality compared to a traditional digital compact camera. 5 MP is also quite low, something you would have seen 5 years ago. There's a reason that the usual recomendation for DIY bookscanners are 10 MP.

By "glorified webcam" I meant that it looks more like this:

Which costs only about $150. Is there that much more quality in the picture to justify the price?

Hey Andrew, thanks for the notification. It's fine if you want to post information about your product in this thread. People here are convinced by real-world sample images. If you want to share a few of those, we'd be interested to see the performance of your scanner.

Hello Daniel

We are actually working on a new section of the web site that will contain exactly what you are asking for.

It is still in development, but the new section will contain at least 20 sample images, directly from the document scanner that can be viewed online and downloaded for close scrutiny.

That is what you are after, right?

Hello Daniel

The new section on the web site will be published next week. In the meantime, you can take a look at the sample scans on our Google+ page:

https://plus.google.com/104720388726602 ... QqSFe77Ea8

You can download the actual BMPs from the document scanner at http://goo.gl/UbbJv .

We would be delighted to hear your feedback.

Thanks in advance.
