Default for "Notify me when a reply is posted" ?

Just what it says.

Default for "Notify me when a reply is posted" ?

Postby fbonomi » 13 Aug 2009, 03:21

Perhaps I am being dumb, but I can't find a place where I can say that I want the "Notify me when a reply is posted" option to be active by default....

Also, am I the only one that keeps hitting the "Save" button instead of "Submit" ?

When you post a message, look beneath the text area or buttons. Within the options tab you should see "Notify me when a reply is posted" checkbox.

I don't know of a way to set this as a global preference.

Would be really great if there was a global pref for this. Makes the BB more "sticky" and keeps people engaged.
I looked all through the User Control Panel and I couldn't find a place to specify that by default I'd like to always subscribe to threads that I have posted in.

Go to your User Control Panel,
Click the Board Preferences tab,
Click the "Edit posting defaults" option,
Choose "Notify me upon replies by default".

I don't think I'd ever consider enabling it by default (new users would be inundated with irrelevant traffic) but this opt-in way seems pretty ok, if a bit non-obvious and hidden.

Hi Daniel, Awesome! Thanks for that info!
Would you consider adding this instruction to the "Welcome" email sent to new members? Letting them know that this is an available option & where to find it?
