I'd put a bunch of warnings on the back, like, 1. Amazon.com may delete books you purchased from this device without warning. 2. Amazon.com may, at its sole discresion, deny access to books you purchased. And so on. Fat chance of Engadget choosing that as one of their favorites.

But then, I already have a Kindle ;)

Don't have a Kindle, don't want a Kindle. Couldn't care less about Jeff Bezos' epiphany, or the scar tissue he's going to use to build a better policy.

I have a laptop, a PDF reader, and books in PDF format. Jackbooted thugs may still be able to kick in the door and toss it all into the fire, but they can't do it from their air-conditioned offices in Washington.

I would never buy a Kindle, but I'd be happy to win one, because I could sell it and get a Plastic Logic reader. ;)

I made a 3D model of the reader:

and made this "exploded view" of the Kindle:

I'll post the actual vectors here later.

OMG, that is awesome!!! Although, to be more technically correct, the books should all be in one jumbled pile, because you can't organize books on a Kindle ;)

You can organize by title, author, or most recent read (which is what I use).

I'd buy it if you win! That's a sweet design!

Thanks, I may take you up on that!

The contest is open for public voting... if anyone wants to vote for me (or whoever you think has the best design), then this is the place to do it!

I'll vote for you, but I think the Amazing Forbidden Book of Everything ("Now with more automatic deletion") is going to give you a run for your money.

At this point, you have a commanding lead: 765 votes, vs 586 for Steampunk in the second spot, and Amazing Book trailing in third place with 524.

Good luck!

Couldn't agree more. I was also a huge fan of the library card entry.

Good luck!

Thanks, I'll surely need it. ;)
