Edit: after viewing the post it seems that all the mechanical changes are pretty well outlined in the post.

Re: New to book scanning--post processing software

CZUR has had a lot of spamming activity here on the forum over the years, so for our legitimate users, please keep links to CZUR stuff to a minimum. Still, it's worth discussing from time to time. It's also worth discussing how the various of technologies (laser straightening etc) were at one time a...

Re: Lego Mindstorms scanner - A novel way of scanning magazines

JasonStonier wrote: 16 Nov 2021, 08:21 Only problem with it is it's very slow - about 20 mins per magasine, so I'm working on a Gen-2 version which uses a Czur Shine overhead scanner and I hope to get the workflow down to about 10 minutes per magasine.
Another way to solve this problem is to build 2 copies ;)

Re: Lego Mindstorms scanner - A novel way of scanning magazines

This is really cool!

It really hits on one of my favorite concepts, which is that if a bookscanner can be made totally automated, it can go slowly - possibly very slowly - and still be really useful.

The sort of flattening/ironing concept you have is also really cool.

Hey Folks, I'm Daniel, and I founded this site and project back in 2009 with a little help from my friends. I just want to say hello to everyone here, and to let folks know that I'm going to be dropping by a little more often for the foreseeable future, probably once a week or so. I won't resume sel...

Re: Nice Archivist build post at the r/datahoarder subreddit

I personally do the same as camwow - I try to match the camera to what I see with my eyes. There are many different ways to capture books - many different intentions - but for me a copy of the book as-i-found-it, or as-i-marked-it-up - that's the digital book I want.

Re: Creating a Digital Library

Right. Very interesting, John. At the end of the day "The Cloud" just means "somebody else's computer". I don't trust the cloud at all. Companies and services come and go. And who knows what happens to all those computers that somebody else once owned? In the olden days, when I w...
