Simple, easy to build, ~600pg/hr, very portable scanner

Built a scanner? Started to build a scanner? Record your progress here. Doesn't need to be a whole scanner - triggers and other parts are fine. Commercial scanners are fine too.

Hi there,

Finally, after much reflection and a great deal of laziness, I've decided Tiflic Book Scanner is still my best option for a personal book scanner (if someone thinks otherwise, please let me know). So I'm starting to build it. First of all I have acquired the plate sheet, and before buying anything else I would like to get some info.

My reference is the 16 Apr 2017 version 004 pdf manual for the v.2.1 scanner, downloaded from here. In this manual, I've seen that on-going discussion on the scanner could be found on the site http://po.st/tiflicbookscanner, but it's not active any more.

So my questions are the following:

- Is there any updates or changes to the building process I should take into account?

- As for the pieces, any newer versions or different models recommended?

- What about the software?

It's been a long time since someone replied to this subject, so I hope I can find here the help I need.

Thanks in advance!

This thread, where I'm posting this message, is the original thread for my scanner. I then updated the design and named it TIFLIC. I also developed some software to help handle the backward, single page scans that TIFLIC produces and created the following new thread for the updated TIFLIC scanner design and related software:
https://forum.diybookscanner.org/viewto ... 18b0037ca7

And that thread is where you obtained the "16 Apr 2017 version 004 pdf manual for the v.2.1 scanner" you mentioned.

Yes, the po.st service went off line, and I thought I had replaced all copies of po.st link (except in the video) with this new one:
http://bit.ly/tifilic-book-scanner

That new bit.ly joins the above thread at the point where I first published the PDF manual and the video of the scanner in action.

I recommend reading the full thread and then going on past the above bit.ly link to see other suggestions, and the latest software.

As for the design. It hasn't changed since the v2.1 scanner manual was published, but the software has been upgraded several times. Again, it's all the new TIFLIC thread above.

Hope this helps
