Woeka's build

Built a scanner? Started to build a scanner? Record your progress here. Doesn't need to be a whole scanner - triggers and other parts are fine. Commercial scanners are fine too.

Well after some careful designing.... it's just time to start building en see where it takes you.

I just used glue to fix the glass to the MDF and it holds pretty well so far. It doesn't look much but it's 18mm MDF i've used.

This is part of the lifting solution I am planning to use.

For lighting if got myself a second hand Sansa from IKEA, it looks like this:

It still needs some work but it is getting somewhere.

I like very much the "slider" design. How much vertical space doe it give you? Is it enough to turn pages?

Another doubt: won't the larg triangular pieces of wood cast some shadow on the book?

Where are you going to place the cameras?

It gives me about 30 cm of vertical space, which should be enough to turn the page.
I'm planning to put the cameras and lighting on the platen itself, so there would be no shadows.
